Sambalpur Railway Division has achieved remarkable growth



The goods earning during 2010-11 is 320.77 cr, against the target of 306.22 cr, a growth by 4. 75 % over the target. It has achieved a record freight loading of 4. 829MT in 2010-11, an increase of 17. 78 % compared to last year and 11 per cent above the target.

“We have carried 9. 55 millions of originating passengers which is a growth of 7 % over last year and passenger earnings had been 63.07 crores, a growth of 9.2 % over last year. Our division has the credit of highest ever achievement in train interchange of 27, 587 trains registering an increase of 8.48 per cent,” DRM Sambalpur AV Siva Prasad said on the occasion of the 56th Railway Week.

The junction arrangement at Lanjigarh Road has been commissioned to provide connectivity with much awaited Lanjigarh-Junagarh new BG rail link.

To meet the growing traffic demand due to rapid industrialisation in the region, many infrastructural development works such as, doubling of Sason-Rengali section route relay interlocking system at Titilagarh, panel interlocking at Khaliapalli and Dunguripali, Token less working in Titilagarh-Sikir section and universal mode of simultaneous reception and dispatch facility at Loisingha, Hirakud, Khaliapali and Dunguripali, additional running lines at Jharsuguda Road, Sambalpur city and Charmal stations have been commissioned this year.
Similarly, many improvements in passenger amenities at stations like provision of PRS at Muniguda, Rengali and Junagarh, UTS at 24 stations, up-gradation of waiting halls at 12 stations, ladies waiting room and dormitory at Bargarh Road, dormitory and retiring room at Balangir, improvement of circulating area at 16 stations, foot over bridge (FOB) at Sainthala and Loisingha stations have been completed.

Sambalpur-Howrah Weekly Express via Angul and Puri-Valsad Weekly Express via Sambalpur city have been introduced during the year. The completion of Adarsh station works at Bargarh Road, Balangir, Khariar Road, Kantabanji, Titilagarh, Kesinga and Muniguda has enhanced the image of the division in a big way. Provision of upper class waiting rooms at Muniguda, dormitory at Kantabanji, Muniguda, Kesinga and Bargarh Road have been developed to cope up with the growing expectations of passengers and to make the customers happy.
