The marriage of Hindu God Shiva and Parvati is celebrated as Sitalsasthi , Sambalpur had the week long celebrations this time too for sitalsasthi.
First time Aircel, the first private 3G operator in Odisha sponsored the festival. Aircel branding was done on 10 Raths which moved around the city with pomp & show. The main centre of attraction of the festival was the grand procession of the Holy Couple Shiva & Parvati, they travelled the streets of Sambalpur with cultural troupes following them. Like previous years many people from other districts & states came to Sambalpur & enjoyed the festival. Sambalpur has always been recognized as cultural centre of Western Orissa.
