Sambalpur DD Kendra has bagged two annual national awards at annual award presentations ceremony of Doordarshan, New Delhi. Paschimataal and Pakshira Nida has claimed the awards. Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting Ambika Soni presented the awards in New Delhi on May 28.
Paschimataal is 26-minute film directed by choreographer Ranjan Sahu, it features four dance troupes and shows the 14 musical instruments that accompany the captivating folk dance. It’s very unique documentary on Sambalpuri music & dance.
Pakshira Nida is a 30 minutes movie, which documents the lifestyle of 29 types of bird of Sambalpur. Surendra Mohan Pradhan took 3 years to complete the research on the local birds and document their life style.
